The Washington Dulles International Airport is located on the border of Fairfax and Loudon Counties in Northern Virginia. It is about 25 miles from Washington, D.C. The airport is located at the end of Highway 267, the Dulles access road. This express four lane highway runs from I-495 to the Dulles Airport. One can get on I-66 outside D.C. and take a direct road to the airport. Certain restrictions my apply to non high occupancy vehicles.

The Dulles Airport (IAD) serves the following international airlines: All Nippon, United, Northwest, Korean Air, Taca, Air Canada, Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, Air France, Swiss, Saudi Arabian Airlines, SAS, South African Airlines. Aeroflot, Austrian Air, British Midland, Ethiopian Air, Lufthansa.

Sadly the following airlines no longer arrive here: Sabena, Span Air.

The National Air and Space Museum Stephen F. Udvar-Hazy Center opened on December 15, 2003. This museum which is part of the Smithsonian Museums will house many important aircraft and will provide a great vantage point for aircraft viewing at Washington Dulles International Airport. Well worth the visit. The observation tower is ok. Better views from the parking lot. Visit the official museum site here.
