Had dinner at PHO 2000 (Vietnamese) on
7/22/6 and Charlie Chiang's (Chinese) on 7/23/6.
Both had great meals served to me.
-----
Wonderful buffet at Charlie Chiang's. Try their Mongolian Grill.
Fill a bowl of fresh ingredients. Vegetables, meat fish, etc. Hand bowl
to cook. All fresh food cooked in front of you.
-----
I love these 2 places and Matsutake
(Japanese) for my meals.

This former
Loews theater in the Worldgate Shopping Center was taken over by
Phoenix Theatres. It has added high-back rocking chairs with
retractable cup holder armrests as well as new carpet, paint and
wallpaper. The typical mall venue has seating capacities that
start at 180 and peak at 350. Three of the nine screens are large,
and two of the larger theaters are equipped with SDDS. One
customer-friendly feature is the five restrooms, three of which
are for women. Also, parking is free in the shopping center and
garage. Various restaurants and shops are in and around the
center. This former Loews theater in the Worldgate Shopping

A
small selection of my
visits to the Worldgate Centre in Herndon, Virginia.
2006 July 22 - Shopped
at A Deli. Nice selection on wine.
Clerk willing to help when asked. Looking for great selection of
imported cheeses. They had some nice provolone, but not the
"insane cheeses" I was hoping to find. Wine was marked with price
tag, but some other items were not marked.
Felt the prices of candy
was expensive. Clerk had to look up prices as they did not
have method to scan bar codes at register. Felt uncomfortable
about that. I would like to see prices clearly listed. They did
have a board overhead that listed prices of meats and cheeses
crystal clear.
$2.19 each for that pack
of two pieces of Baci candy? Wow! A search online found
a box of 96 individual pieces has a unit cost of 60¢
each from internet seller!!! What's the retail of that $1.09? I
doubt it.
Will return to buy wine, but can't see me
shopping there for much else.
A Deli
July 22, 2006
2006 April 1 - After seeing 'Failure to
Launch' at the Phoenix Worldgate I had a
wonderful meal at PHO 2000. What a nice
evening.
2005 December 31 to January 2
- Enjoyed a room at the
Marriott Suites. Love the renovations. Yes, the
old room design held so many fine memories. But the
new rooms will start new memories and are very fresh and look
great. Great meal and service at the Marriott
restaurant and bar. The manager treated me like a King. The
bartender/waiter was great too. The movie 'The Family Stone' at the
Phoenix Worldgate. Liquor at
T.G.I. Friday's.
2005 May
28 - Had desert at the Cold Stone Creamery. One word, WOW! You get
your choice of ice cream, like a cross between custard and ice
cream, mixed with whatever you want. I had their regular flavor,
which is anything but regular, mixed with Snickers and Reece's
peanut butter cup in a waffle bowl.
2005 April 3 - A Cold Stone Creamery will be opening soon. I
read about them in the Wall Street Journal and the way the made ice
cream sounded interesting and inviting. Look forward to trying
them.
2004 July 13 - I have
good news and bad news . The Starbucks is
now open at the Worldgate! That should bring more patrons to the
Centre. Sadly I must mention that the Charbroil Steakhouse
is closed.
The following businesses are no longer located at
the Worldgate Center. They are mentioned because I once shopped
there and enjoyed the quality of service.
Dress Barn, 437-9370. While
I did not shop at the Dress Barn, thank you very much, it has been a
staple at the Worldgate since well before my first visit in 1994.
There are stores located in Reston, Sterling and the Fairfax
area. Addresses can be found at this site http://www.dressbarn.com/index.jsp
Great Wall of Herndon. Chinese Restaurant. (The first
Chinese food I had in Herndon, Virginia.)
Mozzarella's (old name). I ate dinner here with the Parrot
Heads and that guy who paid for my meal. The American Cafe is a
renamed Mozzarella's.
Worldgate Market &
Deli.
Waxie Maxie #535. 13027 Worldgate Dr Herndon
VA 703-318-9422 (see information on my visit
here)
Sony and Lowes. The previous operators of the
Worldgate 9 Theatre.
Dunn's Toy and Hobby. Sadly they are now gone! On my trip of June 19, 2004 I
noticed the store is vacant. I will no longer be able to shop for
toys and games at this fine establishment. (A quick web search found
one at the Manassas Mall. I'll have to check that one out.)
This is a list of some of
the previous tenants at the Worldgate Centre
(The blank spaces are left in memory of
the important stores that are no longer there, see below.)
This sign is no longer
necessary. The problem has been fixed.
I remember my reaction when I
first saw this sign or a similar one in 1994 on my first arrival in
the Worldgate garage. This image was taken from video footage from
September 1996. I could swear there was a sign referring to the
pipes above the garage. I must not have read the sign. It makes more
sense to have a leaking deck as opposed to pipes. Although there
should be no leaks at all.
