| The Sully Plantation was once owned by Richard Bland Lee, Northern
Virginia's first congressional representative and uncle to Confederate
General Robert E. Lee. The house was built in 1794 by Richard Bland Lee.
This property and buildings have been restored to represent what they looked
like during the federalist period when Richard Bland Lee and his wife, Mrs.
Lee, owned the property.
Throughout the inside the house are period furnishings and antiques
which bring to one a feeling of being in the house when it was occupied
in the late 18th century. Docents are on location to provide a tour of
the house and knowledgeable insight of the history of the property and its
owner.
The grounds and outbuildings (kitchen, smokehouse, stone dairy, and
slave quarters) are available for tour free of charge. The interior of
the house is available to tour for a nominal $5.00 admission for adults. |
