CASEY KASEM

Casey Kasem - American Top 40

Alive and Well recapping the top hits of the 1980's

XM Satellite Radio Channel 8 is replaying 1980's American Top 40, hosted my Casey Kasem. Since Sunday evening 12/29/01 (its now 11:17p.m. 1/1/3) I've been reliving memories with the Top 40 songs from various weeks throughout the 1980's. Right now I'm listening to ABC's "Look of Love" which listed at #39 the week of 10/30/82. Number 38 just started, Air Supply "Young Love". Don't remember this one.

Even though I don't consider it an Eighties song or group it was nice listening to The Captain and Tennille "Do that to me one more time" many times this weekend. One of the top songs of the 1980's.

I love so many songs from the Eighties and have about three hundred that are my favorite.

If I had to pick an absolute favorite it would be Kevin Rowland's:

Come On Eileen
( Dexys Midnight Runners )

(Come on Eileen!)
(Come on Eileen!)

Poor old Johnny Ray
Sounded sad upon the radio
He moved a million hearts in mono
Our mothers cried and sang along and who'd blame them?
Now you're grown, so grown, now I must say more than ever
Go toora loora toora loo rye aye
And we can sing just like our fathers ....

Come on Eileen! Well, I swear (what he means)
At this moment, you mean everything
With you in that dress, my thoughts I confess
Verge on dirty ......
Ah, come on Eileen!

(Come on Eileen!)
(Come on Eileen!)

These people round here wear beaten down eyes
Sunk in smoke dried faces
They're so resigned to what their fate is
But not us, no not us
We are far too young and clever
Go toora loora toora loo rye aye
Eileen, I'll sing this tune forever

Come on, Eileen! Well, I swear (what he means)
Ah come on, let's take off everything
That pretty red dress .... Eileen (tell him yes)
Ah, come on! Come on Eileen!!!

Come on Eileen! Well, I swear (what he means)
At this moment, you mean everything

Come on, Eileen, taloora aye
Come on, Eileen, taloora aye
Come on, Eileen, taloora aye
Come on, Eileen, taloora aye
Come on, Eileen, taloora aye
Come on, Eileen, taloora aye

Go toora loora toora loo rye aye

Come on Eileen! Well, I swear (what he means)
At this moment, you mean everything
With you in that dress, my thoughts I confess
Verge on dirty ......
Ah, come on Eileen!

Come on, Eileen! Well, I swear (what he means)
Ah come on, let's take off everything
That pretty red dress .... Eileen (tell him yes)
Ah, come on! Come on Eileen!!!

Come on Eileen! Well, I swear (what he means)
At this moment, you mean everything

Come on Eileen! Well, I swear (what he means)
At this moment, you mean everything

This song will always remind me of wonderful times in Columbus Ohio. Standing at a high bar table at Stuart Anderson's Black Angus restaurant and bar in Columbus, Ohio this video was playing on the screen over my left shoulder and the song loudly over the speakers. The year was 1984, November 1984.
All of You
Julio Iglesias and Diana Ross

I've never had this feeling before
I've never wanted anyone more
And something in your eyes tells me
You feel the way that I do

I feel like you do
If you would like to stay here all night
You know that I would say it's all right
Though I'm saying yes, I confess
I've got more on my mind 'cause I want
More of you than your time

All of you, your body and soul
Every kind of love you can express
All the secret dreams you've never told
I want everything, and I'll take nothing less

All of you as long as you live
Everything you've never shared before
I want all of you that you can give
All your joys and all your sorrows
Your today's and your tomorrows

How I long to feel the warmth of your touch
And then if I'm not asking too much
I'd like to spend my life wandering through
All the wonders of you

And when we're lying close in the dark
So close I feel each beat of your heart
I want you to reveal what you feel
All you hold deep inside
There is nothing I want you to hide

All of you, your body and soul
Everything you want this love to be
I want all of you all that you can give
And in return for all your giving
Let me give you all of me

All of you, your body and soul
Every kind of love you can express
All the secret dreams you've never told
I want everything, everything, everything

All of you as long as you live
Everything you want this love to be
I want all of you, all that you can give
In return I wanna give you, let me give you

Sadly these people who are no longer with us. 80's deaths.

Back in about 1987 I put a message to a person I liked on the wall of a 7-11 above a pay phone. I wrote it with Elmer's Glue. While the persons "nickname" is no longer visible, the first part is still there in March 10, 2003.
