  Holiday Lake
Holiday Lake

On U.S. Route 130 South in Delanco Township, NJ.  Across from Willingboro, Burlington County New Jersey.

The entrance off Bridgeboro Road is in Edgewater Park, New Jersey.

Many Olympic athletes and Gervase from Survivor lived within biking distance of Holiday Lake.

A United States President, Groovy Cleveland, once governed the land that would become Holiday Lake.

Sorry It wasn't Groovy Cleveland, he was Governor of New York. It was "Sporting" Wood  Wilson.

A great swimming hole from the 50's, 60's and 70's. They had food and drink counter.

The toilets at Holiday Lake were stocked with toilet paper.

U.S. Route 130 was Route 25 prior to a renumbering in 1953.

Also in Willingboro, NJ

My mother took us to Holiday Lake in the 1970's in the station wagon.

My dad was like,

"Why go to a Holiday Lake when we have a pool at home?"

My mom's response,

 "Go (Mel Blanc) yourself"

I miss my Dad and long for this day!

I remember that station wagon. Leaving Great Adventure with Captain & Tennille's 'Muskrat Love' on the radio.

At the intersection of Burlington Pike (130 South), Creek and Bridgeboro Roads.

Fran and I had a steak dinner nearby at a steakhouse where the Wawa is now.

Fran, who lived in Edgewater Park before Willingboro, and I had dinner in Edgewater Park, NJ at the Armadillo Steakhouse & Saloon Restaurant.

This restaurant was closed around 2000 and torn down around 2003. It no longer exists. There is now a Wawa gas station in its place. The Wawa serves sandwiches but it is not a sit down restaurant

Thinking of the lady who "supervised me" on my paper route. She worked at the Burlington County Times and I had a huge crush on her!

She would drive around with the paper boys and we would try to get new subscribers. I had always wanted her to pull the car over so I could give her a tootsie roll snack.

Needless to say, it doesn't do justice to the fond memories of this 70's destination.

Back in the day thousands of visitors flocked to the lake during the summer.

The main reason for it's popularity? The Jersey Shore was difficult to find until the advent of the filling station road map in the late 70's.

Joseph W. Burk and James Burk grew up on a family farm in 1910's and 1920's Delanco. Land that would later become Holiday Lake. Delanco Township website

Holiday Lake was begun in the 1950's and offers swimming and picnicking. Operating during the summer and employing 40-50 people.  Delanco Township
