Sugar Ray Leonard -- In the early 1980's
he was at the Claridge Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. I used to go
to the casinos with my Pennsylvania learner's permit that mistakenly had my
birth date listed as two years earlier. He was in some conference room. I
took a picture of him that he posed for, got my picture taken with him, and
got a few boxing tips.
-
Marvin Kaplan -- 'Mr. Cholesterol' and
'Henry' the telephone repair man from Alice was up at the old Host Farms in
Lancaster, PA. One night, when us kids went to the coffee shop for a late
night snack, he was sitting in a booth drinking a coffee. I went up to him,
politely introduced myself, asked him about getting into show business, and
upon his invitation joined him for a piece of pie and a glass of milk.
-
Tiny Tim -- Met him in the old 7-11 on
Route 70 and Covered Bridge Road in Cherry Hill, NJ. I had a cast on my left
foot due to a broken ankle. He graciously gave me an autograph with the
message, "Get Well Quick, /s/Tiny Tim".

Sally Star
-
Harold Carmichael-- I used to deliver
him the Courier Post in the mid-70's

Ron Jaworski
-
Tony Perez -- While working at Jack's
Texaco & U-Haul in Maple Shade, NJ I waited on him one night. I filled
his gas tank with petrol and sold him a "quart of air". I didn't
know who he was until after he left and another customer, who said hello to
him, mentioned it to me.
-
Winnie to Poo -- He deserves a special
mention that all of the characters from Disney World that I met won't get.
When I was a young boy I wrote to the Sears store in the Moorestown Mall. I
told them how much of a fan I was of Poo Bear. They arranged a special
meeting for me. After school I went to the mall with my mom. Winnie the Poo
appeared from behind some doors. As he bent down to shake my hand I saw a
human being inside what turned out to be a Winnie the Poo costume and
found out right then and there that Poo Bear was only alive in my
imagination. So sad.
