Prince George's County,
Maryland
September 15 to 16, 2002
| After a day trip to visit some friends in Herndon, VA I
headed home along the inner loop of the beltway. I was advised by a
traffic advisory sign of an accident and major delay by exit 29. This was
confirmed by AM 630 traffic reports.
As I approached the end of the jam I was near an exit that headed
towards Chevy Chase, MD. Since I did not have to be home on Monday I took
the exit figuring that I would eventually hit the beltway going the
opposite direction. To make a long story short I wound up in Oxon Hill, MD
at around 11 p.m. I then decided to stay over and go into the District of
Columbia on Monday. |

|
| I stayed in room 301 of the Red Roof Inn, Oxon Hill, MD. I
paid the rate of $64.95 plus tax. Even with the parking lot one-third full I
was told there were only two rooms left. No Smoking rooms were avialable.
I respected the no smoking room this time.
After checking out I went to Mount Vernon, Virginia. I got there and
went to retrieve my glass case from my backpack. My glass case was empty.
I left my glasses in the room. I called the hotel and the front desk clerk
was absolutely no help at all. She did not offer to have someone look in
the room. I drove back to retrieve my $200+ eyeglasses. When I got there
the front desk clerk said I could go back to the third floor and look for
the housekeeper and ask to check the room. I found the housekeeper and we
went to the room. The glasses were inside the bed sheets at the foot of
the bed. Presumably I removed the glasses and left them in the bed. Before
departing earlier in the day I failed to remove the sheets as I usually do
to look for any items.

Unbeknownst to me my eyeglasses are under
the sheets near the foot of the bed at 9:15 a.m. on Monday September 16,
2002. I will come back to retrieve them about 3 hours 5 minutes later.
