| The Aroostook Centre 8 in Presque Isle, Maine did not
provide that extra level of good customer service the last time I was there. I was
thoroughly satisfied with the box office, movie picture and restrooms. My
problem was at the concession stand with that guy whose been there for
years.
On December 8, 2004 I went to the Aroostook
Centre 8 to see the movie Blade: Trinity. I was purchasing a medium popcorn with butter and a medium soda for
$10.25. This price is just fine with a $5.00 evening box office. Plus
their medium popcorn is a 130 ounce bag which is a good size.
I asked for butter on the popcorn and the employee at the Aroostook
Centre 8 did that competently. I then asked for a cup with butter so I can
put some on the middle when I reach that part in the bag. To save some time
they already had the display case full of popcorn in the bag. The employee
politely said it is against company policy to put butter in the cups because
it may melt the cup. I don't necessarily have a problem with that policy.
What I do find curious is that they had the same policy when Hoyt's ran the
cinema (I remember having this same problem last time in 2002 but did not
pursue the butter) and now with Northeast Cinema running the show. So it
could be that they don't want to clean up spilled butter.
My problem is that any attempt to get them to provide butter on the
inside was met with a road block.
Any other cup for butter is full price.
No offer to provide another popcorn with some of the top layer poured
out, butter placed on the inside and popcorn put on top of that to fill the
bag.
The man did politely suggest that I come back after eating down to the
middle of the bag. This is not an option as I will miss some of the show.
I enjoy a snack during the show so not paying for the items, which I
contemplated, was not an option.
Those bags of popcorn in the case had to be trash as I was at the last
show of the night and there weren't many customers after me buying a snack.
I wound up going out to my car and getting some zip lock bags. After
eating some popcorn during the previews I filled up two bags and returned to
the concessions and got butter. I then emptied the zip lock bag of popcorn
back into the bag and I solved my own problem.
Ask that employee at the Aroostook Centre 8 to
walk five feet when his job requires him to walk four feet? Forget about it!
