The center of this image is Tim Horton's® in Presque Isle, Maine. Any cars behind the Wal-Mart sign pole are parked in Tim Horton's' parking lot. I frequently get a coffee, cafe mocha, donut, chili, or a freshly made sandwich at Tim Horton's. All are fresh and delicious.
To the left of Tim horton's is a Wal Mart super store. A great place to shop. Regular Wal Mart plus a super market.
To the right of the Wal-Mart sign is a pole holding some overhead road signs. Directly to the right of that, in the background is a white canopy. That is the Irving Maineway, a great convenience store and gas station. |

most populous city in Aroostook County,
Maine, Presque Isle is located about 45 minutes north of Houlton, Maine.
Take I-95 north all the way up until you are about one mile from the Canadian
border. This is the Route one exit in Houlton, ME. Take Route 1 north to
Presque Isle.
One weekend I decided to go where it was cold so I went to Presque Isle and boy was it cold. About zero degrees at night. It was my first trip to Presque Isle, to Maine for that matter. I thought Presque Isle would be this tiny town with little to offer. On the contrary it is a good size city, relatively speaking, with plenty to offer. |
| DRIVING
IN MAINE
January 18, 2002 9:03 p.m.
Needless to say one needs to keep their eyes on the road and drive
a safe and prudent speed in order to prevent having their car stuck in
a snow bank on the side of the road. If you get stuck in Presque Isle just
call the cops and they'll hook you up with a tow truck who will pull you
out for about $35.00. I spent a good hour trying to dig myself out as the
car kept sliding further into the ditch.. When one considers the risk of
spinning tires, digging in the very cold weather, getting clothes wet in
near and sub zero temperatures, it may be best to just call when it is
determined that you are really stuck.

ENTERTAINMENT
It was here I saw the movie Super Troopers, Die Another Day, Catch Me If You Can, and Mona Lisa Smile. The price of admission was low. I recall it was about $4.00. The price of snacks was quite high. About $6.00 for a large popcorn. That's alright for I spent far less total then at home. And the quality of the picture and experience was quite high too. I was not happy with my most recent experience there. Trying to get the one employee working the concession to "layer" the butter is like pulling tooth. Actually pulling teeth is easier because it can be done. |

Restaurants, Food, Drinks
Tang's Courtyard
Presque Isle, ME 04769 - For a delicious serving of Chinese Food, a nice tropical adult beverage served in a delightful setting try Tang's Courtyard. The buffet is great. The service is wonderful. Drinks are powerful and delicious. I really like Tang's Courtyard. They offered a discount on Sundays. Canadian dollars at par. When you factored in the exchange rate you could save a few bucks. If you spent $16.00 on the buffet and a couple drinks and paid with Canadian it was equal to about $10.00 U.S. (January 2002). I would have tried this but I was so tired driving to Presque Isle that I thought Saturday was Sunday. The food was still a great deal and the visit wonderful at full price.
